Blog about a recent photo you took...
Well, I'm going to post this today but I've written a bunch of posts which will pop up during the week. This morning I got up at 7am and ate a quick breakfast and pulled on my costume. My colleague (who is an amazing ocean swimmer) wanted to do a winter solstice swim (originally the ocean swim at Mona Vale but he's going away soon so he wanted to do it closer to home to have enough time to do everything). So we went to Coogee. I thought we would swim out to wedding cake island but he (and another guy from his surf club) didn't want to swim out there by themselves (wimps) but then they said that seriously they had spotted a shark yesterday so I agreed.
So we swam for about half an hour. It was cold. The thing about it is that it's about will power. I didn't want to go in that water. I would rather do my normal Sunday thing at the pool where the water is clear and not full of creatures and 27 degrees, and have a nice lunch afterwards with a hot shower. But it's about proving that I can. That I can face my fears.
So we swam across the bay. And then back across to the surf club. And then along to Wiley's. And then back. And we got out.
I headed to the ladies change room but the shower was icy cold. I wanted to rinse so I did but it was cold. Needles of cold.
Then we had brunch. I had a bene roll. Essentially eggs benedict in a roll. It was yummy. But I should've had a hot drink too. I didn't. We sat in front of the heater but it was up high and only hit on my face. Which was nice.
Then I drove back to church and had the heater on high all the way back.
But when I got to church I was still cold. And church was COMPLETELY open to outside. And I was near the door.
So I was still cold. And then one of the ladies at church suggested I have a cup of tea. I don't drink tea so I had hot water and I warmed up.
And I stopped shivering.

So: I am not getting in the water in Sydney until October, at the least. Unless I have a wetsuit on.

or a Thermos nearby! You're amazing :)
