The first half of the year

What big things happened the first half of the year?

Well...


  • I went to Perth, Margaret River, Fremantle and Rottnest Island and visited my aunt and uncle. I had an amazing time. 
  • I climbed a giant tree, rode around an island and went floating in tunnels underneath a prison
  • I got crazy and ended up leaving my church for a new church
  • I joined an awesome fun choir
  • I had really bad back pain and then got physio and it's almost gone
  • My friend Karen had a baby
  • I got a new ferret Happy
  • I started a really, REALLY hard subject Biblical Interpretation
  • I swam in a race and raised $1600 and did my fastest time
  • I set a goal to swim 200km (82.3km to go)
  • And I met Miranda.
Not a bad first half the year really.

The mental health outcomes for people with chronic fatigue are worse than many other major illnesses. I think this is because of a range of factors, including isolation, loneliness, lack of hope, and no real treatment options. You'll find a study here: https://www.healthrising.org/blog/2015/08/05/chronic-fatigue-syndrome-worse-mulitple-sclerosis-cancer/ So as I journey through my chronic fatigue experience, I am even more conscious of how to keep my mental health out of the toilet, because I know that many of my fellow sufferers would rather have cancer than CFS. That's why, I think, I burst into tears today. Our church has always had a weekend away, a weekend where we would get together, eat (sometimes sub-optimal) food, fellowship, listen to talks, chat, swim, play, etc.  But next year it's not happening.
